We very much depend on the Friends for making up the inevitable deficit on our concerts. The increased cost of music and hall hire coupled with a declining audience despite increased publicity (sadly this is a national trend affecting all amateur orchestras) mean that it is impossible to break even on a concert without extra financial support. Moreover it is important for us to offer an original repertoire and give opportunities to talented musicians to conduct or play concertos (opportunities which would not be available in ordinary schools' orchestras), as well as occasional tours or performances at special venues. Players do pay a small fee to take part but in order to encourage as many as possible we have refrained from increasing this for many. We would like to invite you to become a Friend of the Lydian Orchestra and if you feel able to give a bit extra towards our costs and to support our talented young musicians we would greatly appreciate it.
Basic Subscription - Individual - £7.50 or Joint/Family - £10.00. Payment made now will cover the period to 31s' March 2010

I am a U.K. taxpayer and I want The Lydian Orchestra to treat all donations I
make/ or have made from April 2000/ until I notify you otherwise, as a Gift Aid
donation. I understand that The Lydian Orchestra will benefit by reclaiming tax
on my donation so long as I continue to pay an amount of income or capital gains
tax at least equal to the tax that the Lydian Orchestra reclaims on my donation
in the tax year.
