Future Concert Plans.
Visit to Edinburgh.
Once again Ethan Merrick
will be taking the orchestra to perform in the Festival of British Youth
Orchestras at the Edinburgh festival. Concerts will be on
Wednesday August 20th (Edinburgh)
and Thursday
August 21st (Glasgow).
The Rehearsal Schedule is as follows:-
Saturday 16th August:
Rehearsal at Amherst School, Riverhead 10am – 5pm
Sunday 17th August:
Rehearsal at Amherst School 10am – 6pm
Monday 18th August: Leave
for Edinburgh at 7:30am from Amherst School.
Tuesday 19th August: Free
time in Edinburgh
Wednesday 20th August: Afternoon rehearsal followed by concert
in Edinburgh at 7.30pm
Thursday 21st August: Travel to
Glasgow. Afternoon rehearsal followed by concert at RSAMD at 7.30pm
Friday 22nd August:
Return home
The 1st Lydian Training Orchestra Course will be from Friday, 24th – Sunday 26th October 2008 at Amherst School,
Sevenoaks, (Dorton House is unavailable on those dates). The 2nd Course will be at the same venue from Friday 13th
- Sunday 15th February 2009.
The Christmas Concert will be on Sunday December 21st at the Trinity Arts Theatre, Tunbridge Wells, and will be conducted by Ethan Merrick. An exciting and original programme is planned giving opportunities for members of the orchestra to demonstrate their talent. Alice Plant will play the Bach A Minor Violin Concerto. There will be an episode from and Berlioz L'Enfance du Christ - The Trio for 2 flutes and harp which will be played by Lynne Fugard, Becky Andrew and Claire Richardson. Also for inclusion are Canteloube's Songs of the Auvergne sung by Amy Moore while Mozart's Overture Il Seraglio will begin the concert and his Haffner Symphony will end it.

The 2009 Easter Concert will be on Saturday April 4th 2009 at the St Nicholas Church, Sevenoaks and Barry Griffiths has been invited to conduct. The programme is expected to include a violin concerto played by one of his pupils aged 13.
