LYDIAN TRAINING ORCHESTRA

The Training Orchestra, founded by June Clements in 1989, provides the opportunity for young musicians to gain orchestral experience of a high standard from their early days of learning their instrument. Many players go on to become members of the main Lydian Orchestra and there are also shared performances with them at some concerts. The Lydian Training Orchestra is under the direction of its Artistic Director, Ethan Merrick.

Who can join?
The Training Orchestra is open to players aged 8 – 15

the minimum standard required is:
Strings - Grade 4 or above
(Wind and Brass- Grade 5 or above - but see note in red below about 2010 courses)

Two weekend courses are run each year during the autumn and spring terms. Both courses include full rehearsals plus sectional coaching sessions by wind and string specialists, culminating in an informal concert for parents and friends. They also include organised recreational time.

The next Course will be from Friday 19th to Sunday 21st March 2010 at Amherst School, Riverhead and the course following this will be from Friday 8th October to Sunday 10th October 2010.

Great News for Training Orchestra Players!
It has been decided that Lydian Training Orchestra members who are currently attending a Training Orchestra Course will be admitted free to all Lydian Concerts.   The concession applies only to the Player.  If you wish to take advantage of the offer please ring 0845 644 4712 (Main Lydian Contact No.) for  advice as to how to get tickets as the arrangements vary from concert to concert..
